JOANNE & JEREMIAH

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Joanne and I met in July of 2003. I picked up her aunt Helen at her grandmothers house for church and there she was fresh out of bed; hair tied back, glasses, flip-flops, tank-top with basketball shorts looking very attractive. Her aunt Helen asked her to move her car and Joanne was having a difficult time. Joanne said, "When I put the car in reverse it moves forward and when I put the car in drive, it moves backwards." I thought to myself, this girl is trippin'. Actually, I think she just wanted to catch my attention. After church, we went back to Joannes grandmothers house and there she was again, standing outside waiting to get picked up. This time Joanne took a shower her hair was down and blow-dried, light make-up, tank-top, with cargo shorts. Her aunt Helen moved to the back passenger seat and Joanne sat in the front.

During this time, Joanne's aunt was preparing for her and my cousin's wedding and she wanted to attend a bridal show in Pasadena. I just recently moved to Los Angeles and I wasn't familiar with the area, so Joanne became my personal navigator. Out of all places, Joanne and I spent the day at a bridal convention (go figure). Joanne and I began walking around together and a vendor asked us when our big day was I hesitated and Joanne said, "We haven't picked a date yet." The vendor asked us if we wanted to enter a raffle for a free honeymoon vacation and Joanne immediately filled one out. Joanne said, "If we win we better go together." And the rest was history. Joanne and I didn't win the raffle but we did start a new journey together.

For 7 years and counting, Joanne and I continue to love one another, learn from each other, and grow (obviously not vertically) wiser together. We've made sacrifices and been by each others side through many ups and downs. We are a perfect match and we definitely balance each other out. We are blessed by God to have found each other.
